Pastor Ken Hoover has served Immanuel Lutheran Church as pastor since the fall of 2003. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1979, and then earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri, in 1983. Pastor Hoover served two congregations in Nebraska prior to coming to Immanuel. Pastor Hoover’s passion is to serve God through His Church on earth as it fulfills God’s mission of touching hearts and changing lives with Jesus.
Faith
Faith is a gift of God which He places in our hearts through His Spirit. It is part of every activity that we do, every meeting that we hold. We believe in our Lord, and our actions are a reflection of His grace, mercy and love at work among us.
Scripture
The Bible is the Word of God, the only source of knowledge about God and His forgiving love. The Bible is the way God speaks to us still today with His truth. These sacred Scriptures were written by men but as they were inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. Therefore what the Bible says is true and without error.
Community
Immanuel as a Church is a fellowship of all who have come to faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. God has given His Church two great gifts to continue its growth and life; Baptism, to create faith, and the Lord’s Supper to nurture that faith. As that church we gather in community, we grow in His Word, and we serve with His love.

We are committed to igniting faith on and off campus by walking with Christ. College is a time when real community, supportive relationships, and strong faith are vitally important! Preschool Ministry
Immanuel Lutheran Preschool is a ministry wholly owned and operated by Immanuel Lutheran Church. It is a faith-based school that seeks to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ as it provides care, learning and development for children from 2 to 4 years of age. Immanuel Lutheran Preschool has long been considered the leader in Charleston for kindergarten preparation.
