Ken Hoover

Rev. Kenneth Hoover has served Immanuel Lutheran Church as it’s pastor since the fall of 2003. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College, Ann Arbor Michigan in 1979 and then earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St Louis Missouri in 1988. Pastor Hoover served two congregations in Nebraska prior to coming to Immanuel. He is married to Michele and has four children; Johanna, Cassie, Ben, and Vincent. Pastor Hoover’s passion is to serve God through His Church on earth as it fulfills God’s mission of touching hearts and changing lives with Jesus.

Greg Witto

Greg Witto has served ILC as the Director of Campus and Family Life Ministry since 1994. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Concordia University, Ann Arbor Michigan, and earned his Master of Science in Family Life from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska in 2006. Greg was a volunteer Youth Director at his previous congregation while completing his education before accepting the call to serve at Immanuel. Greg is married to Cindy and they have two children; Joy and Paul. Greg’s passion is developing young adult disciples, fostering intergenerational ministry and helping families build spiritually strong and healthy homes in Christ.

Mike Honemann

Mike is the director of the Early Childhood Center. Known by all the kids and staff as “Mr. H”, he previously served as a teacher in the pre-school since 2007. He graduated from EIU with a bachelors in Botany and Elementary Ed, and has spent a few years working in the local schools as a substitute teacher. Mike believes, “A good teacher is someone who can learn from his students, who can learn with them and for them”. He is married to his wife is Jamie, and has a son named James.

Matt Slaybaugh

Matt serves as the Director of Youth and Christian Education. He received his Bachelor of Arts as a Director of Christian Education with a minor in Theology and Service Leadership from Concordia University Chicago in 2016. Matt grew up in North Carolina and his immediate family still lives there. Matt enjoys playing and watching sports-- especially hockey, which he grew up playing. Matt is passionate about leading youth to the Gospel and Christ-centered living to influence their world. 

Debbie McNamer

Debbie has been our Administrative Secretary for over 20 years. She has lived in Charleston all her life, and attended both Lakeland College and EIU before joining us in 1991. Whenever you call our office hers is most likely the voice you will hear. She keeps everything organized for us, and is just a valuable part of our staff as any. Together with her husband Mike they have raised three children, and are now experiencing God’s blessing of grandkids. During the time she isn’t found in the office she enjoys walking with friends and visiting her kids.
