Leadership AT ILCM

Immanuel Lutheran Campus Ministry encourages students, faculty, and staff to join us in ministry. We have a group of dedicated leaders who use their gifts serving, supporting, and equipping others to live out their faith in Christ! Get to know them below.


Student Leadership Team

Ashlee is a senior Early Childhood Education major. She is from Glen Carbon, Illinois. In her free time, Ashlee likes playing sports, babysitting, and teaching Sunday School. She also enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, going shopping, and eating.

 

 

Jennifer.pngJennifer Wisner

Jennifer is from Forsyth, IL, and is currently a junior Accounting major at Eastern. In addition to ILCM, she is involved in organizations within the Honors College and the School of Business on campus. Her hobbies include cooking, sewing, reading, and dancing.


Allen.pngAllen Johanson

Allen recently earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology from EIU and is now pursuing his master's degree in Technology Management. He is from Bartlett, Illinois, and is an only child. In his free time he enjoys woodworking and watching and playing sports. Allen's favorite movie is Space Jam, and his favorite genre of music is country. His biggest item on his bucket list is to go to all 30 MLB stadiums and has visited 20 of them so far.

Faith is a senior at Eastern majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Fashion Merchandising and Design. She is from a small town in east central Illinois called Metcalf. Faith works as a tour guide on campus. Her favorite color is pink, and One Direction is her favorite music group of all time. Faith's hobbies include shopping, jamming to music, cross stitching, and getting her nails done. This will be her third year serving as a student leader at Immanuel, and she is excited for all the fun activities we have planned this year!

Madeline is from Lincoln, IL, and is a sophomore majoring in English Literature. Along with being a part of the ILCM family, she is also a member of Eastern’s University Mixed Chorus. Some of her hobbies include reading, art, and listening to music.

Brooke is a sophomore Honors student at EIU majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Spanish. She is from Kankakee, Illinois. In her free time she enjoys playing violin, running, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. She works at the coffee shop on campus, so feel free to swing by!  

 

 


Adult Leadership Team

Rev. Kenneth Hoover has served Immanuel Lutheran Church as its pastor since the fall of 2003. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1979, and then earned his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri, in 1988. Pastor Hoover served two congregations in Nebraska prior to coming to Immanuel. He is married to Michele and has four children; Johanna, Cassie, Ben, and Vincent. Pastor Hoover’s passion is to serve God through His Church on earth as it fulfills God’s mission of touching hearts and changing lives with Jesus.

Mark and Carol are long-time members of the Charleston community and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mark is a retired EIU instructor in the business department, and Carol retired from the Charleston school district as a high school teacher.


Kevin_Hastings.jpgKevin Hastings

Kevin earned a bachelor's degree in 1998 and a master's degree in 2000 from EIU. He was an active leader in ILCM from 1996-2000 meeting many people who are still good friends today. "There are so many memories there, and it is a blessing to continue making memories being involved with the ministry." He teaches math at Parkland College in Champaign, enjoys playing organ, Cardinals baseball, Illini football, and time with friends and family.


Emma_Hackler.pngEmma Hackler

Emma is retired after serving as a nurse for fifty years. She is the mother of 5, grandmother of 14 and great grandmother of 4. She is a long time member of Immanuel whose husband served faithfully as Immanuel’s pastor from 1977-1991 and was Pastor Emeritus before he went to be in heaven in 2006. Emma loves to be with young adults and encourages them to consider Immanuel as their church family away from home.
